Problem

I defined key characteristics of the target audience through user personas, such as senior brand managers, marketing leads, and creative directors. By understanding their needs—quickly assessing talent, viewing organized portfolios, and contacting Mark easily—I identified what the site should emphasize. Through research and analysis, I identified four main pain points: difficulty in finding relevant work, unclear roles on collaborative projects, slow communication, and lack of distinct highlights.

Solution

Users need an efficient, clear way to evaluate Mark’s expertise and style to make informed hiring decisions. They require a portfolio site that is visually compelling and easy to navigate, with clear role explanations, client testimonials, and organized project categories. The site needed to emphasize Mark’s award-winning status, provide clear project categorizations, showcase client work and testimonials, and facilitate easy, timely contact.

Design Thinking

User Flow: I focused on the user flow by ensuring an intuitive path from the homepage to viewing specific projects and testimonials, and finally contacting Mark.

Wireframes and Mockups: I developed wireframes emphasizing minimalism and easy navigation, then created high-fidelity mockups to test visual hierarchy and section layout.

User Testing: I conducted usability tests to ensure smooth navigation and intuitive access to key information. Adjustments were made to further simplify the contact process and improve the organization of the portfolio section.

Additional Details

Based on the design thinking activities, I brainstormed key sections, including:

  • An About section to highlight Mark’s background and Emmy-winning accomplishments.

  • Clients Worked With to showcase Mark’s industry credibility.

  • Portfolio organized by category, making it easy to navigate and find relevant work.

  • Testimonials to build trust through client feedback.

  • In the News to showcase media recognition.

  • Contact Info with a simple form for ease of communication.
